Built with POPIA in mind
- Biometric templates (fingerprint/face) never leave the on-site terminal — only clock-in/out results are synced to the cloud.
- ID numbers and bank account details are encrypted at rest.
- The audit log is insert-only — actions are never edited or deleted, ever.
- Locked payroll runs are immutable — corrections happen via a new supplementary run, preserving full history.
- Your data lives on infrastructure you control, not a third-party SaaS vendor's platform.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need internet access on site?
No constant connection is required. If the terminal or your local network loses connectivity, attendance keeps recording locally — up to 100,000 records — and everything catches up automatically once you're back online. The ClockPay Power unit we're developing adds battery backup and its own WiFi/4G connection for sites with unreliable power or network.
Is my staff's biometric data safe?
Fingerprint and face templates are stored only on the on-site terminal and are never uploaded to the cloud, in line with POPIA.
What hardware do I need?
A biometric terminal (fingerprint and/or face) on your local network. We'll advise on a model suited to your site size and budget.
How does payroll tax stay up to date?
SARS PAYE brackets, UIF and SDL rules are reviewed and updated for each new tax year without touching your historical payslips.
Can employees see their own payslips and leave balance?
Yes — every employee gets their own secure portal login to view hours, leave balance and download payslips.
What if we outgrow it?
There's no per-employee fee to worry about as you grow — add employees and terminals as needed.
